Hurricanes and the Rainy Season: How To Prepare Your Vehicle

During this hurricane and rainy season, we want you to know everything you can do to prepare your vehicle. Prepping your vehicle will keep you out of harm's way! Here at Premier Auto Service Center, our number one concern is the safety of our customers. Here are some tips you can follow to make sure your car is ready for this season!

Maintain your vehicle.

When you're on the road during this season, your car should be able to take you where you need to go! At Premier Auto Service Center, we can make sure your car is running smoothly. Come by our shop and make sure you will have no complications during your next ride. Preventive maintenance is important all year long; not just during hurricane season. Make sure you have your technician check the following items on a regular basis:

  • Oil

  • Transmission

  • Brakes

  • Battery

  • Windshield wiper fluids, and wipers

  • Tire pressure

Assemble an emergency kit.

When bad weather hits, you never know if roadside assistance will be available. This kit will help you with any unexpected event that may occur. This kit will also allow you to move quickly to your destination. This kit can include flashlights, poncho, jumper cables, batteries, blankets, etc. Anything that you think will come in handy, pack it! If you need help, you can go down to the closest Publix to pick up an emergency supply checklist, to make sure you have everything you need.

Fill up your gas tank.

On the road, the accessibility to gas stations is limited. During a hurricane or heavy rain, it can be hard to get to any gas station no matter how close they may be. Filling up your tank ahead of time will save you the panic and worry that comes with getting gas. You can also fill up a container of gas just in case!

Park safely.

Properly parking will keep your car safe from a lot of damage.

Make sure you park on high grounds and against buildings. Take a look at your surroundings and avoid trees, loose structures, or anything of that nature. Apply your emergency brake as well! Swing by today to make sure your emergency brake works well!

Create an evacuation plan.

Creating a solid plan for you and your family will ensure everyone’s safety. Take a look at all the different routes you can take. There will be a lot of traffic and congestion, so back roads will help you get to your destination faster. It’s also important to be patient on the road for that reason. Stay calm and stay safe!

Before the rainy season causes any problems for you and your family, we invite you to Premier Auto Service Center in SW Florida for a safety inspection. We can make sure your vehicle is ready and able to handle all kinds of weather and can safely transport you during an evacuation mandate. Our family cares about your family, and it would be our pleasure to make sure you and your vehicles are ready for anything Mother Nature throws our way. Schedule an appointment today, or call us at 239-471-7049. You’ll be glad you did!
